Genoa Cricket and Football Club, founded on 7 September 1893, is the oldest existing football club in Italy. Based in Genoa, Liguria, it plays at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which it has shared with city rivals Sampdoria since 1911. Genoa won nine of the earliest Italian championships between 1898 and 1924, making it one of the most decorated clubs of Italian football's pioneering era, and also lifted the Coppa Italia in 1936-37.
