Le Havre
Est. 1872 · Le Havre, France
Le Havre Athletic Club, based in the Normandy port city of Le Havre, is often called France's oldest football club; though the club long claimed a founding of 1872, records show the omnisports club was formed in 1884 with its football section following in 1894. Playing today at the 25,178-seat Stade Océane, Le Havre is celebrated above all for its renowned youth academy, which has produced stars such as Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet, Riyad Mahrez and Steve Mandanda. Its greatest achievement came in 1959, when it lifted the Coupe de France as a second-division side, and it has won the second-tier title six times.
