Athletic Club, commonly known as Athletic Bilbao, is a professional football club founded in 1898 in Bilbao in the Basque Country, playing at San Mamés Stadium. Renowned for its cantera policy of fielding only Basque players, it is one of only three clubs — alongside Real Madrid and Barcelona — never to have been relegated from La Liga. Athletic have won 8 La Liga titles and 24 Copa del Rey trophies, the second-most in that competition's history.
