1. FC Köln is a German football club based in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, formed in 1948 through the merger of Kölner BC 01 and SpVgg Sülz 07. A founding member of the Bundesliga in 1963, the club enjoyed its greatest success in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, winning German championships and DFB-Pokal titles. In more recent decades it has become known as a "yo-yo club" for its frequent moves between the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
