Football Club de Metz was founded on 23 March 1932 in Metz, Lorraine, and plays at the Stade Saint-Symphorien. The club has never won Ligue 1 (finishing runners-up in 1997-98) but has lifted two Coupe de France and two Coupe de la Ligue titles and is renowned for one of France's most productive youth academies, which produced players such as Robert Pirès, Louis Saha, Miralem Pjanić and Sadio Mané.
