Sport-Club Freiburg, founded in 1904 and based in Freiburg im Breisgau, is a German football club that plays in the Bundesliga. After decades in regional and second-tier football, it reached the top flight for the first time in 1993 under long-serving manager Volker Finke and has since become an established Bundesliga side known for shrewd recruitment and a strong youth academy. Freiburg reached the final of the DFB-Pokal in 2022, one of the deepest cup runs in the club's history.
