1. FSV Mainz 05 is a German professional football club based in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, founded in 1905. After spending most of its history in the amateur and second divisions, the club reached the Bundesliga for the first time in 2004 and has since become a regular top-flight side. Mainz have never won a national championship or major cup, but they have qualified for European competition and are widely known as a nursery for coaches, most notably Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.
